Welcome to BushCamp. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use BushCamp.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to register an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may not share your account credentials with others.
You must provide accurate information when registering.
You may only hold one active account.

3. Community Rules

BushCamp is a community for South African outdoor enthusiasts. Keep it respectful and on-topic. The following are prohibited:

Harassment & abuse: personal attacks, threats, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics.
Spam: repetitive posts, unsolicited advertising, or bot-generated content.
Misinformation: deliberately false information, especially regarding safety-critical topics (trails, weather, wildlife hazards).
Illegal content: content that violates South African law, including poaching, illegal firearm use, or content that infringes copyright.
Doxxing: sharing private personal information about other users without consent.
Commercial solicitation outside the Classifieds category without prior permission.
Impersonation of other users, public figures, or BushCamp staff.

These rules exist to keep BushCamp worth using. Moderators apply them in good faith; they are not a political agenda.

4. User Content

4.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of content you post (text, images, etc.).

4.2 Licence to BushCamp

By posting content, you grant BushCamp a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, and distribute your content as part of operating the platform. This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account (subject to section 4.3).

4.3 Public threads

Threads are public and indexed by search engines. Deleting a post removes it from BushCamp but may not remove cached copies from third-party search engines immediately.

4.4 Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for content you post. By posting, you confirm you have the right to share it and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.

5. Moderation

BushCamp moderators may remove content, issue warnings, or suspend/ban accounts for violations of these terms, at their discretion. We aim to be fair and transparent. If you believe a moderation action was unjust, email moderation@bushcamp.co.za.

6. Intellectual Property

The BushCamp name, logo, and website design are our intellectual property. The underlying forum software is built on open-source libraries — their respective licences apply to those components.

7. Third-Party Links

BushCamp may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

8. Disclaimers

BushCamp is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Outdoor activities discussed on this forum carry inherent risks. Nothing posted on BushCamp constitutes professional advice — always exercise your own judgement and consult relevant experts before undertaking any outdoor activity.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, BushCamp and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including reliance on user-generated content.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. Continued use of BushCamp after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be announced via a forum notice.
