Front Runner Slimline II roof rack — full load-carrying capacity review
8 months of ownership, 17 proper off-road trips ranging from day runs to 7-day expeditions. Here is my honest, no-BS review.
Bought from the brand directly for R9,200. Fitting took 3 hours — straightforward with the instructions.
Performance: carries my full overlanding kit — 40L fridge, two MaxTrax, a 20L water jerry, rooftop tent, and a high-lift jack — without any flex or noise. The mounting system is excellent and took about 4 hours to install properly.
Compared to Rhino Rack Pioneer: I considered the alternative before buying. The price difference was around R1697. Based on what I have seen from other owners in this community, I think I made the right call — though I acknowledge I have not used the other one personally.
Would I buy again: Without hesitation. Rating: 8/10.

Does it work with the Rhino Rack system? That is my concern before buying — fitment compatibility. Did you need any adapters?

The point about fitting time is important. I budgeted 4 hours and it took almost exactly that. Worth planning properly rather than rushing it the day before a trip.

How does it compare to the Dometic? I have been going back and forth between the two and at the price difference of around R4354, I am not sure the premium is justified for my use case.
